Joint Commission Risk Assessment
When the new Joint Commission Diagnostic Imaging Standard states “[t]he hospital manages safety risks in the MRI environment…”, that statement is based on the belief that TJC-accredited providers already have an MRI-specific risk assessment. When the surveyor comes to your site and asks you to produce your MRI risk assessment, what will you be able to tell them? Let GRC help you prepare an MRI-specific risk assessment for your compliance.
Joint Commission Required Training
Also in TJC’s Diagnostic Imaging Standard is the requirement for documented annual MRI safety training, with a very specific set of criteria. Have you checked your training materials to see if includes content on – for example – how patient positioning can reduce the risk of MRI burns? If the training you use doesn’t include all of the content items listed by TJC, your annual MRI safety training is not compliant!
MRI Risk Assessment
From cryogens, to device interference, to screening failures and contrast reactions, do you have your MRI risks documented as you ought?
Access Restrictions Review
TJC now has specific restrictions on access and supervision for your MRI suite. Have you had it reviewed to make sure you comply?
MRI Safety Training
Many commercial MRI safety training videos don’t cover all of TJC’s new training content requirements. Have GRC provide training to make sure you comply.
If you have questions or concerns about your site meeting its new obligations under TJC accreditation, please contact GRC to see how we can help you.
